I never thought I would work in anything other than a unionized hospital and then after years of working at two different Los Angeles hospitals I realized that what my daddy told me isn't always true, maybe times have changed since he was a union worker. He was paid well I guess. We always ate and we always had a nice apartment.
I see so many who don't put any effort into their jobs and their life complain a blame others. Get off your butts and contribute! The union just be taking your money and giving it away to keep us down. Call in sick, come to work late, and expect to keep your job? The union will help you keep a job you don't deserve to have. I have pride and I have good pay because I earned it.

This probably won't get posted, but here goes anyway:
CNA is not about screwing you out of monthly dues by doing nothing, if you would take 5 minutes and go and look at the website, you would see EXACTLY what your dues buy.
I had to laugh when I saw the post about "How good Tenet is to me"; they have done everything possible to screw you into the wall; including reneging on your EBL benefits; just look at your paycheck and see if the EBL line is still there.
Plus, they decided that they could arbitrarily change the pay and benefit scales for new hires; WHILE UNDER CONTRACT. These people won't even honor a signed contract; what makes you think they give a damn about you?

We need to stay vigilent! Word is that CNA is already passing out cards in the hospital. They are so confident that Card Check is passing! We need to continue to educate and encourage others to do the same!

Well, CNA requested another (3rd) vote from the RN's at Saint Agnes Medical Center... Date was set for March 11 and 12th, and as of 4pm on March 9th, CNA runs!! What does that say to our RN's paying dues??? How much of your $$ was wasted towards the gearing up of yet a third vote to tell the CNA NO, only for them to run with their tails between their legs?
For those of you who are fighting off the CNA, it CAN be done! Stick together, and perservere!
CNA will run when they realize they have no chance at a WIN!
Thank you Nancy, RN, Stamina, RN, Jas, RN, Sherwood, RN, Gary, RN, and all those Grass Roots participants!
Stay strong, and stay prepared...
Blessings!

If I were a dues paying CNA memeber, I would be VERY ANGRY right now! I would be screaming "Why are you wasting my dues money to organize nurses who DON"T WANT CNA????" Think of the dollars wasted!

Just found out that C.N.A. got scarred again and ran away from Saint Agnes!!!!! No surprise they like to spend their nurses dues money to call for a vote only to walk away with their tail between their legs!!! They can really be proud of this performance!!! Good riddance!!

CNA is just using the dirtiest tactics to get Saint Agnes. In their rally yesterday 3/4/09- kept talking about how they had accumulated over 60% cards and should be honored and let in. But didn't talk about their huge miserable loss in the elections. This is clearly the reason why Freedom choice act should not go through. At Saint Agnes, they collected over 60% cards (not to mention OR to mention>> with dirty tactics---lying and cheating) and in the democratic election, they lost BIG time. So, let's vote one more time to get them out and send them a clear message: At Saint Agnes, CNA--- NO WAY.

The disrespect for nurses that is shown by these unions is alarming. It is so clear that all they care about is collecting our dues payments. The CNA does not care about nurses or our patients. Their unreasonable demands, threats of strikes or work stoppages only costs us all in the end. The unions will blame everyone else for the financial crises the world is in and accept none of the blame themselves. Greed is the reason and the union leadership is first in line for a piece of the pie.

What part of NO does CNA not understand?, The nurses at Saint Agnes will vote, for a 3rd time in the past 10 yrs, last vote less than 1 yr ago. NO means NO! The Grass Roots will continue to fight off the CNA! Thank you, Sherwood, for giving us a forum to get the word out, and for your support! NO to the CNA, not now, not tomorrow, not ever, and certainly not in my pocket book! GO AWAY CNA!

CNA MUST GO AWAY PERMANENTLY OUT OF NURSING WORLD!!!! Most of their labor organizers are not nurses, they are money hungry and do not know the real nursing issues. They only want your hard earned money (easy for them!) In today's financial climate, why pay $100 a month to these people. Let them find a real job and real work in their field. NURSES, YOU HAVE A VOICE!!! YOU DO NOT NEED SOMEONE TO SPEAK UP FOR YOU. AS A NURSE, YOU ARE A PATIENT ADVOCATE. AS A NURSE ADVOCATE...........YOU HAVE A LOUD VOICE!!!!! VOTE NO TO CNA!!! As a full-time RN at SAMC I'm shocked that we are going through an election for the 2nd time in less than a year...We need to stay strong, support Our Patients, Our Hospital, and Each Other in voting NO. The CNA was sent away twice from St Agnes, let's make it a triple play :0) Thanks to Sherwood for your continued support of our grass roots group!

We have to keep CNA out out Saint Agnes Medical Center! I hope the nurses realize that CNA is out to get your $$$ because they need a lot more money right now to expand into other states!!! Please stay informed about the CNA activities all over the country! And once they have your money...almost $100 a month for a full time nurse, they are not obligated to do ANYTHING for you!!! They will spend your hard earned money any way they please!!!
I propose, keep your money and decide yourself what you want to do with it! VOTE NO!!

Our hospital will be out of Tenet ruling starting next month. Our new owner have just handed out the benefits package for the union employees. The package for the non-union employees are far much better deal than the union package!!!! We want get rid of the CNA!!!

For $100 a month for dues, we have received a rotten deal!!! CNA go away!!

THE CNA FILED A GRIEVANCE AGAINST THE NEW OWNER TODAY. THIS REALLY SHOWS HOW DUMB IS THE CNA. ONE THING THAT THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND, THE UNION PACKAGE IS THE SAME DEAL THAT THEY HAVE CONTRACTED WITH THE PREVIOUS HOSPITAL OWNER!!!

THEY CAN FILE ALL THE GRIEVANCE THEY WANT, THE NEW OWNER OF THE HOSPITAL DO NOT HAVE TO SUCCUMB TO YOUR DEMANDS!!!

TO ALL THE UNION MEMBERS: JUST WATCH THE AUTOINDUSTRY, THAT IS YOUR FUTURE!!!

The Grass Roots @ SAMC is continuing our fight against the CNA! And we WILL WIN, AGAIN!
We are appalled at the tactics the CNA is utilizing... to claim that the voters were not aware of the vote time and to have a 95% voter turn out is beyond crazy and ridiculous. The CNA is truly takes the energy out of team work, and ultimately takes away from our Patients we serve.
All I can say is ... how can you claim you have any integrity????
We will be successful to keep the CNA out of SAMC!!!
GO AWAY CNA!!! GO AWAY!

The "Bush run NLRB" just overturned the St Agnes election and it will have to run again! All because the hospital posted the "notice of Election" 6 hours late. well, that crazy! Seeing how there was a 95% voter turnout!!! What are they smoking?

Hello to all...
Thank you Suzanne, for your great words of encouragement as well as the Kudo's. We at SAMC are continually thanking all RN's for the great voter turn out! The bottom line is really education! And speaking out the REAL truth about the CNA. I continue to be very passionate about keeping the CNA and other unions out of Hospital environments. Those who are fighting off the union... you truly MUST develop a strong Grass Root effort. Even if it is not a large number, its the passion, the tenacity the truth that will succeed.
Thank you Sherwood, for keeping this forum for all of us to connect.
I encourage any of those who have questions not to hesitate to reply and ask! I certainly would love to share our success and how we did!
Keep the Momentum GOING!

I am a nurse at Saint Agnes and very grateful today for the huge turnout in the election this week and for the 452 votes against CNA! Thanks to Sherwood for all of your help and thank you to the Grassroots team for all of your hard work in making sure our nurses were educated about the decision they were making. I am sure the fight will continue as the CNA does not seem willing to accept the vote of the true majority of RN's at our hospital. Keep up the good work!

To All the RNs at St. Agnes Medical Center at Fresno. I will be praying for your success on not letting in the CNA in your hospital. May God Bless all of you on your hardwork and efforts and keeping out the CNA! The CNA is only about the $$$$$ and does not care about anything else. As for me, I am working at a Tenet facility that has allowed the CNA to come into our hospital. Since the hospital unionized, the patient care and the morale in my unit has gone down! VOTE NO TO CNA!

From all of us with the Grass Roots Movement "Our Voice, Our Choice" at Saint Agnes Medical Center we'd like to thank you for your support. Your support during our rally and your experience in how to deal with the CNA has been invaluable. We have less than a week before the vote and a lot of work in front us but I know we can do it. We really have no other option than to stop them at our doors!!
Thanks again,

I had the honor of being invited to spend some time with the grassroots group of nurses at St Agnes Medical Center in Fresno California earlier this week. I have to tell you that this is a group of professional, dedicated, wonderful and awesome nurses. Their energy is amazing and all of it positive. I did could not find a bad attitude among them.
At the pro hospital rally held by these nurses they had many speakers, some invited, others impromptu. Emotions ran high when a priest from the hospital spoke of the CNA's pro abortion stance and asked the nurses to take this into consideration when voting next week. I saw a number attendees with tears streaming down their faces. One physician grabbed the microphone uninvited and spoke of his pro union, pro labor position. All attendees showed their professionalism as they allowed this man to speak, no booing no heckling. Another physician spoke right after and praised the grassroots groups efforts and stated the majority of physicians he had spoken with were clearly with the hospital and the pro hospital nurses.
A large number of ancillary staff also showed clear support for the hospital and the grassroots group. Many volunteered to help in any way they could.

St Agnes nurses will be voting May 21st and 22nd to decide on unionizing with the California Nurses Association.
